Palm Eos with webOS gearing up for launch

The second Palm handset, the Eos, to be loaded with the Palm OS, WebOS, is getting closer to its AT&T (US) launch. The company has gone with a candy bar design this time around and incorporated a QWERTY keypad as well. While it has a large touchscreen (capacitive) display at 2.6-inches with a 320 x 400 pixel resolution and 16 million colors, there seems to be a lot of empty space between the screen and the keypad aside from what could be a round five way nav-pad. Where are the call keys?

According to reports this quad-band GSM/EDGE also features -

  • dual-band HSDPA connectivity
  • Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP support, microUSB v2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS feature
  • 2 MP camera with flash
  • 4GB built-in memory

The Eos is also an extremely thin handset with a depth of just 10.6mm. It’s priced at approximately Rs. 16, 387 ($350) which doesn’t seem like a bad price at all, but the absence of Wi-Fi could be an issue for some. If it ever gets here we’ll let you know if it’s worth that much without that particular feature. Stay tuned.
