Nokia further refurbishes 6600 slide

One of Nokia’s more popular models was the 6600 with its neat plump design, like I mentioned. The handset, it would seem has been revamped, but unfortunately the new 6600i Slide is not as funky looking as its predecessor. But then again this is not the only handset from the company to bear the 6600 name. In April of 2008 Nokia had launched the 6600 Slide and 6600 Fold handsets. The previous 6600 Slide was equipped with a 3.2MP camera. So the 6600i Slide (note the ’i’) is actually Nokia’s smallest 5 megapixel slider to date.

The brushed steel covers and chrome center key do make the handset look quite elegant as compared to the previous model. It’s equipped with a function for discreet tap commands that bring the display to life and also be used to snooze alerts and silence or reject incoming calls.

Other features include -

  • 2.2-inch TFT LCD display with 16 million colors
  • Series40 UI
  • 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash
  • MicroSD card support up to 16GB
  • FM radio
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0 (micro)
  • 3.5mm audio input

The Nokia 6600i slide has an estimated retail price of Rs. 12,972 (EUR 200) excluding taxes and subsidies and it is expected to start shipping in select markets in the third quarter of 2009.
