Hyundai Motor India has given the Verna a makeover in order to enhance its appeal to customers. Apart from reworking the interiors to look more suave and up market, Hyundai has also fitted the diesel model with an automatic gearbox. This is the first diesel car in this segment to get an automatic transmission and should cater to a growing audience who prefer to have an auto box which greatly helps in city driving.
This is the first makeover of the Verna, ever since the car was launched in September 2006. The engine options remain the same, however Hyundai has added a host of new features to the car.The new Verna now offers aerodynamic styling on the exteriors with a stylish new radiator grille, electrically adjustable ORVM, new chrome insert in waistline moulding, rear chrome garnish and a new full wheel cover for enhanced visual appeal.
The interiors of the new Verna have also been spruced up with new fabrics and detailed improvements in quality of plastics and the overall finish of the cabin. The audio console has been upgraded too and boasts of a high fidelity 2 DIN Music System with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. On the safety front, Hyundai has gone ahead and included ABS in the new model.
Speaking about the new Verna, HMIL MD, H.S Lheem said, “Hyundai Verna is a proven success in India and the new variant which also comes with an automatic transmission – a first for this segment will further enhance customer delight and satisfaction. With the launch of the new Verna, we have once again raised the competitive bar for style, performance, safety and driving dynamics in India’s mid-size car segment.”
The new Verna range includes two petrol variants – 1.6 VTVT & 1.6 SX VTVT – and two diesel variants – 1.5 CRDi VGT & 1.5 SX CRDi VGT. In addition, Hyundai has also introduced Automatic transmission in VGT SX variant making it the 1st diesel A/T in its segment. The VGT SX is a four speed automatic.
The Verna is now available in the following new colors: Blushing Red, Stone Black, Crystal White, Champagne Gold, Sleek Silver & Deep Ocean Blue.
